Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports for November 8, 2021

On the morning of November 4, Pettis County MPs wrote a driving report during a suspension. James Baker was leaving prison on a work release program, and two blocks from the prison moved to the driver’s seat. Formal charges of driving while in suspension are filed with the prosecutor’s office.


MPs observed a man in the Kohl parking lot, 4300 Wisconsin Boulevard, who had an arrest warrant on Sunday night. MPs arrested Gary D. Spradley, of Sedalia, for his non-appearance warrant on the initial charges of defective equipment.


On Sunday afternoon, MPs and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the 200 West Tuck block in Houstonia with reference to a report of child abuse. Upon arrival, two children were located at their residence, who had been repeatedly slapped in the face, receiving injuries. An adult female at the residence was also assaulted after the incident. After a search of neighboring properties, Michael J. Hertel was located and arrested on two counts of child abuse, one count of 3rd degree domestic assault and three pending non-appearance warrants. The FTA warrants dealt with the initial charges of operating a motor vehicle without sustaining financial responsibility, failing to register a motor vehicle and recklessly operating a commercial vehicle, endangering persons or goods. Hertel was transported to Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour standby pending charges.


On Sunday afternoon, MPs arrested Deyette Bragaw in the 24000 block of Oak Grove Lane in reference to two active arrest warrants for failing to appear against her on the initial charges of failing to yield to an oncoming vehicle while making a left turn and operating a motor vehicle without maintaining Financial Responsibility.


Pettis County MPs conducted a traffic stop in the South Montgomery and 10th Street area in reference to a vehicle that failed to maintain its right half of the roadway early Saturday morning. During the stop, the driver, who has been identified as William Keith Davidson III, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.


On November 5, MPs reported the theft of a green Moto Stylish cell phone located in the 1500 block of Crestview Drive.


On Friday afternoon, MPs arrested Christopher E. O’Dell from La Monte on a pending warrant out of La Monte for obstructing police / resisting arrest.


On Friday morning, MPs were sent to the 3600 block of South Kentucky Avenue for an injury-free motor vehicle accident report.
